A Series of lecture demonstrations/Workshops on the Origin and Development of Indian Culture through ages
Vanamala Center for Art and Culture is organising a workshop on Suladis of Haridasas. Suladis are one of the oldest musical forms of Karnatak music. These were composed by Haridasas of Karnataka which are going to obsolete in the recent times. With an ambition of reviving and preserving them to posterity, Center is providing an opportunity for Musicians and Dancers to learn Suladis in their authentic format from an expert in Suladis.
The Workshop will be conducted by Karnataka Kalashree Vidushi T Sharada, Retired professor of Music, Maharanis College, Bangalore. Vidushi T Sharada and her sister Dr T Shachidevi commonly called Tirumalai sisters have worked extensively on Suladis and many other ancient musical forms. Sharada being a Vocalist and a Veena artist is a graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. She has conducted various workshops on topics like Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis, Swati Tirunal’s Navaratri Kritis and many more.
Vidushi Sharada would be teaching few Suladis of Sri Vyasarayaru and Sri Purandaradasaru some of which are referred from the manuscripts preserved in Saraswati Mahal library, Tanjavore and some from Subbarama Dikshitar’s Sangeeta Sampradaya Pradarshini treatise.

Date: Workshop will be conducted on every Saturday from 19th July to 30th August 2014

Fees: Rs 1000/ only
